Ashridge House Hertfordshire

April 2011 Adam and Sarah had a beautiful wedding at Ashridge House. What a difference in a year as the weather this time in 2011 was fantastically hot. Here are just a few photos from their wedding to give you a taste of the day.

Swan Hotel Bedford

What a fantastic wedding to start the year. Back in February, Charmaine & Paul had a beautiful wedding day reflecting a  New York theme as that is where they got engaged. The room looked wonderful with the pompoms hanging from the ceiling and classic white tulips as the bouquet and table decorations by Flowers with flair of Ampthill.

Charmaine looked  stunning in a Charlotte Balbier dress with Rachel Simpson classic Mary Jane Suede shoes to complete her look.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Swan Hotel, overlooking the river. The day was charged with emotion from the outset, from Charmaine’s sister giving a moving reading during the ceremony to her father singing his speech, accompanied by his keyboard. During the evening’s entertainment Charmaine’s Father played again with his reformed band from his youth. The bride’s sister joined them with a very moving song – there were not many dry eyes in the house, including mine. Here are just a few of the images from their day.

We just wanted to say thank you so much for the wonderful photographs you took. They captured every moment of the day without us even realising! It was such a lovely surprise to see the moments you caught.

You truly did float about the day like a butterfly taking a perfect mix of formal and informal pictures without affecting the natural flow or having to interject with anything we or our guests wanted to do.

You took all the photographs we requested and achieved our stylistic preferences too.

Everyone remarked upon how pleasant and amiable you were, and you made me feel totally at ease – which is invaluable on such an important day.

When I was getting ready it didn’t feel like I had my photographer there, it felt like you were a friend - one of us, and we all noted how you went above and beyond to help out when it was all hands to the deck, and I really appreciated that.

You played such an important role in the wedding and both Paul and I felt you totally rose to the occasion and exceeded our expectations.

Beautiful Bethan’s portrait

I love this shoot so thought I’d share it with you. It was taken last year in May. Bethan was still recovering from a number of major operations and her Mum and I were so pleased she had the energy to do a photo shoot with her beloved pony – “Sparkly”.

I hope seeing what joy her pony brings to her make you as happy as it makes me. Bethan you are such a brave girl. x

Frary Portraits – Bedfordshire

The Frary family had a new addition in February. I was thrilled to be asked to take their family photos along with some portraits of Mark for work purposes.

Reuben was very well behaved and we managed to get lots of shots of him as a family group and with his very proud sister and brother.

In between breaks I had some fun with the older children taking photos in their garden. We were very lucky with the weather and they were able to climb trees and jump around in the garden as I took their portrait shots.

Here are just a few shots from the shoot – so many great ones I could not put them all in.

Flitwick Manor

On a lovely, sunny July afternoon Richard and Caroline were married at Flitwick Manor with an intimate crowd of friends and family and their two beautiful daughters.

Splashes of fuchsia pink filled the room as well as Caroline’s crisp white bouquet. The guests were able to relax drinking pimms as I took their photographs in the stunning Manor gardens.

Here are a few shots from their happy day.

Sculpture Gallery Woburn

Back in September I photographed a wedding at the fantastic Sculpture Gallery in Woburn. I love working at this venue as there are so many stunning views to work with as well as beautiful interiors.

Katy and Jim had a chic wedding with plenty a friends and family around them to join in the celebrations. They were such a pleasure to work with and as so many relaxed and happy faces were there I had a field day.

We were able to use the sculpture Gallery gardens to their full potential as you can see in a small collection of their photographs I have put together for you to view.

Knebworth house – Barns

On October 15th we had absolutely fantastic weather, with not a cloud in the sky. I arrived at Liz’s parents house and was greeted with a hugely warm welcome and the atmosphere was filled with calm excitement. Liz had a perfect journey up to Knebworth barns in a horse drawn carriage.

Liz and Tom’s day went perfectly, with every now and then an unexpected twist. Knebworth House had a film crew and medieval re enactment group camping out in the grounds. Liz and Tom took the opportunity to look around it and had a few shots taken which was great fun for all involved.

During the evening a great treat of a vibrant, colourful African dance group was laid on and really set-up the evening ahead. Later on for the 1st dance the wedding party did a spectacular dance routine choreographed by Liz which brought the house down !

It was  a wonderful day to be part of.

A fantastic classic wedding set in the village of Flitton. We were able to take a spin in the vintage car Kate and Ross had hired to take some photographs at Wrest Park.

Charity Project Ampthill Calendar Girls

In 2011 I embarked on a large local charity project aimed at raising money for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. A local lady approached me in the spring to see if I would photograph a calendar girls style calendar for 2012 featuring the ladies of Ampthill. My family has fallen victim to this disease so I immediately said I would help. I was working in completely new territory and we had to create 12 plus scenes to photograph the people that I see most days on the school run!! All involved in planning this calendar wanted to push the boundaries and not just play it safe. We were hoping to make around the £10000 mark but have smashed this amount by raising a whopping £11000. My photographs have been featured in the Sunday Mirror and Take a Break magazine so it has certainly put this Ampthill fundraiser on the map. It was very humbling to be involved in this project and I am so grateful to the very brave ladies of Ampthill for “getting their kit off” and making a very challenging photographic assignment a little easer and for the kindness of the house and garden owners who opened up for our use. Of course no money would have been raised without people purchasing them and the sum raised equates to over 1,000 which is fantastic and sincere thanks go out to all those who bought one.

Keep a look out for Take a Break Magazine on Thursday 26th January as they are featuring my photographs and the story of the Ampthill Calendar Girls.
